Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday paid tributes to revolutionary freedom fighter Chandra Shekhar Azad on his birth anniversary.

In a post on handle X, Modi highlighted Azad’s “unparalleled valour and grit” and emphasised his significant role in India’s quest for freedom.

Modi noted that Azad’s legacy motivates India’s youth to stand up for what is just with courage and conviction.

Born on July 23, 1906, in Bhavra, Madhya Pradesh, Azad was a prominent figure in India’s fight for independence.

Azad was part of the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA), later the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA). He played a key role in several revolutionary activities against British rule.

Azad is remembered for his fearlessness and determination in the face of adversity. He died on February 27, 1931, in an encounter with British police in Allahabad.
